Rondleiding in De Vooruit
VIERNULVIER

The backstage edition

From basement to attic: you never saw De Vooruit like this before!

The major renovation of the front building, from August 2024 to December 2025, crosses the route of the regular historical tours. At the same time, it is a great opportunity to visit the rear building, located on the Muinkschelde, which was dug in the Middle Ages, temporarily and therefore exceptionally from cellar to attic.

And that visit offers quite a few surprises. We all know our magnificent Theatre Hall, with its glass ceiling and murals. Or the Concert Hall, where the ghosts of Nirvana, Arno and the 'niños de la Guerra' still roam. But it is mainly the winding and stair-rich route through parts of the building that are normally closed to the public that gives a new insight into the labyrinth of De Vooruit.

Just to give you a hint: during this brisk walk, you will go from our beer cellar to the attic. You will discover a beehive, a rooster and an owl. And you'll learn about the heat network, a new wheelchair space and our 236 (!) solar panels. From the scene tower, you get a unique view of the Theatre Hall stage. You've never seen De Vooruit from this perspective before!

Please note: Although we aim to make our programme accessible to everyone, these adapted tours are an exception to the rule due to the renovations. You must be able to walk well for this tour.
