Camping Sunset

The Cruiseable

The idea behind Camping Sunset is as simple as it is radical: an actor only really learns to perform by playing a lot, in front of and with an audience. In a time of limited playing opportunities for young actors and reduced tours, this idea is not obvious.

With 'Zomergasten' (2019), Camping Sunset therefore chose an alternative approach: the rehearsal time was drastically shortened, and the playing time was made long and intensive. The audience witnesses the evolution of the performance.

Five years after 'Zomergasten', Camping Sunset involves a new generation of graduated players in a new production. Players from different schools with different visions. In collaboration with Camping Sunset, they play, tinker, and explore the repertoire piece 'The Crucible'.

So we’re playing Arthur Miller's The Crucible!
Do we want to talk about mass hysteria?
Or about finger-pointing? Is it, then, that hell is other people?

I don't know if we can determine this now...
We could talk about mass hysteria and then set things against each other.
And something with fingers!
I don't understand that...
Sounds wonderful already.
Do the men play the men and the women play the women?
And what about me?
We’re definitely talking about The Witch Hunt now and The Witch Hunt then.
What is today’s witch hunt?
We burn an intern every evening.
‘Camping Sunset addresses the surplus of actors.’
Witches are punk too, aren’t they?
Are we doing a re-enactment like that?!

I want punk music and banging on a drum.
Maybe something with...

“A fire, a fire is burning! I hear the boot of Lucifer, I see his filthy face! And it is my face, and yours (...) And as you quail now, when you know in all your black hearts that this be fraud - God damns our kind specially, and we will burn, we will burn together.”
