Democracy is under pressure. Around the world - and here too - we see trends that are profoundly changing the political landscape. The far-right debate, the impact of populism, the role of cordon sanitaire or a fire mauer: how do these evolutions affect our democratic rules of the game? And above all: where are we heading?

At this stimulating evening of debate, we bring together politicians and experts to tackle these questions. Can our democracy still withstand polarisation and distrust? How should traditional parties deal with the rise of radical right-wing movements? Is the cordon sanitaire still tenable, or is it time for a different approach?

Expect an evening full of sharp analyses, tough discussions and room for critical questions from the audience. Because the future of democracy concerns us all.

International criminal lawyer Walter Van Steenbrugge and author/entrepreneur Yasmien Naciri invite Jos D'Haese, PVDA party leader in the Flemish government, and Gwendolyn Rutten, mayor in Aarschot, Flemish MP and former chairman of Open Vld.

The discussions are moderated by Lisbeth Imbo, and the audience is invited to judge.

THE ARENA is a relaxed performance. This means that the hall lights are not completely extinguished, people are free to enter and exit the hall, and the audience can and does make noise and movement.
