Esohe Weyden

Esohe Weyden is a poet, presenter and lawyer. She holds a master's degree in law from the University of Antwerp, where she was campus poet from 2021 to 2023. She is currently pursuing a master's degree in notarial law at the Free University of Brussels. As a poet, she mainly engages in spoken word and recitation, but her texts also come to life on paper.

She made her debut with Vrijdag Publishers with her poetry collection Tussentaal , which was nominated for the C. Buddingh' Prize 2022 for the best Dutch-language poetry debut of the year. This also won her the audience award of the PrixFintroPrijs 2022 for Dutch-language literature. She published in the literary magazines Poëziekrant, DW B and Het Liegend Konijn, among others, and appeared in numerous anthologies. Since 2022, she has been a member of the core editorial board of the literary magazine DW B.

She has already performed her poetry on the most diverse stages, from festivals such as Pukkelpop and Crossing Border to the civic parade of Belgium's National Holiday. She is part of the presenting duo of the literary stage Mensen zeggen dingen ( edities Antwerpen en Gent).

In 2019, she was elected Laureate of Arts and won one of the Culture Awards for deserving Deurneners. In 2020, she started as a culture reporter at ATV where she spent three years covering culture in Antwerp. In 2021, she was ambassador of the Youth Book Month and also house poet of the VRT Taalavond. In 2023, she toured Belgium and the Netherlands with a performance on emotions in the Dutch language as ambassador of the Week van het Nederlands.
