Kabeaushé

Artiest

Kenyan artist Kabeaushé once described their music as "the complete opposite" of the hardcore leftfield electronica of their then-labelmates on Nyege Nyege Tapes. Which was true: the sound of the Kenyan polymaths on their brightly flavored debut album The Coming of Gaze drifted on giddy pop, old school party hip-hop, bright sounds, softness, positivity and fun.

These days, the lines are less clear. On their new material for Monkeytown, more rawness, weirdness and rave energy seems to have permeated the music. It is especially the wild performance energy that shines through via their alter ego "the Shé." Anyone who has already seen Kabeaushé live at work knows what we mean. Psych-soul, gospel, trap and freak funk all the way!
