LaGeste is an international makerspace focusing on the body, dance and inclusive physicality in the form of productions, residencies and studios. From our base at the Bijlokesite in Ghent, we produce performances by Andrew Graham, Zoë Demustier, Lisaboa Houbrechts, Lisi Estaras and Alain Platel, among others. Every body carries a history and is a battleground on which social conflicts are fought out.
Polarisation has increased enormously in the past five years. With our work, we hope to create temporary spaces where we can bridge the gap between people back. We would like to see more reality in the bodies represented and, at the same time, fight for the possibility of transformation and of breaking free from the pigeonholes we confine each other in.
