Pijn are forerunners of a new wave of post-rock bands that incorporate strings and samples to expand the genre’s confining boundaries. Even amongst the backdrop of this newer waves, Pijn have set themselves apart for the uniquely and profoundly evocative character for their music, manifesting both gripping melancholy and uplifting hopefulness. Their latest record “From Low Beams Of Hope” rightfully featured on every “best records of the year” list, including ours, thanks to its ethereal and emotive nature. We’ve already seen the band play a part of it live and can assure you (in the unlikely instance you needed reassuring) that they’re absolutely phenomenal.
