Ranges (US)
Day 1
One of post-rock’s most beloved bands are once again back to the dunk! stages, in what feels like a familiar reunion other than an occasion to celebrate the band’s ever growing success. This year in fact, Montana-based Ranges will celebrate their 10th anniversary and we couldn’t be more excited to invite them to the festival and join in celebration. They really shouldn’t need any introductions, as their commanding approach to post-rock has already garnered them a place amongst the genre’s best, thanks in part to the attention to detail the band puts into each release. Ranges’ appeal in fact expands beyond the music! In an effort to create a fully sensory experience the band curates every aspect of each of their release to gratify all spheres, not just the auditory one. Each detail is designed to add an extra layer of depth to their already enveloping crescendos and roaring climaxes. The band will join the festival fresh off the release of their acclaimed 11th record “33”, which added a whole new layer to their signature sound. The album featured an immersive storyline, silently narrated via the band’s equally immersive music and completed by the album’s extensive artwork and presentation, which truly stimulated all senses towards reaching complete and unopposed bliss.
Ranges’ songwriting is elegant; it never strays from the post-rock canon, yet borrows from elsewhere to often include electronic passages and classical music embellishments and reach full catharsis. The result is a now ten-year career filled with impossibly great records and countless sold-out shows for just as many countless fans all over the world.
