Building Management
Sven literally has a key function here, as he is 'the keeper of the keys': a key part of his job is managing the keys to the entire building. Not an obvious job!
"I am responsible for the entire lock plan and all door systems, which roughly amounts to around 500 to 600 doors. Many people don't always realise how big our building is and that almost ninety people work here full-time. We also do almost everything ourselves here in terms of maintenance. Our building technology team and our housekeeping team are an important link in this."
As a long-time permanent employee, Sven really feels part of the monument:
''The building is an important part of my work. I have really grown attached to it as a person too,'' he laughs. "Our monument is so beautiful that I kind of consider it my job to protect it. I put a lot of time and love into this."
Sven is not only a dedicated team member, but also a big fan of the volunteer work at De Vooruit. "We have a very large volunteer team and they always look so happy when they are here. I notice that they are welcomed here with open arms. That immediately gives the monument the love it needs."
