Tamara & Viviane
Housekeeping
Viviane has been working here since 1989 and although she has been retired for 6 years, she still jumps in now and then as a flexi-jobber. Meanwhile, her daughter, Tamara, has also been working at VIERNULVIER for 15 years. Together with the whole team, they make sure that all rooms in the building are clean, which is a challenge after the numerous events that take place here.
Viviane saw a lot of changes over the years.
"Before, everything had to be done by stairs and there was no lift, we still did the mopping by hand and the team consisted of only four people. Now we use mop buckets on wheels, a sander and the team got bigger. So I eventually dragged my daughter here."
Tamara was able to join VIERNULVIER full time, following her mum's advice. That quickly felt familiar. When Tamara was absent for more than a year, she could count on the support of her colleagues.
"I feel like we are one big family. You are so taken in hand here and they keep going for you. I felt very supported during my absence. You are not forgotten, even if you are at home for a year, for example. It is hard work, but you are rewarded by people here. "
Physically, it is definitely challenging. The housekeeping team is already there from 6am to clean different areas. But it is definitely not boring.
"The very best thing about the job is the variety. The work is not repetitive. What is nice is that here you are not seen as 'someone from the cleaning team'. Our work is really appreciated."
