Icelandic folk metal outfit Solstafir are as legendary as their ancestral homeland. The unique lunar landscapes of Iceland, with its powerful geysers and unforgiving climate are often evoked by Solstafir’s powerful compositions, which lend so much of their highly emotional impact to Aðalbjörn Tryggvason’s beautiful singing. Seamlessly weaving epic sonic and vocal patterns together, Solstafir pay tribute to their homeland and so many of the classic songs of the glorious days of doom and death metal with a uniqueness that’s hard to pin down and even harder to described. In recent years the band has relented on the aggressive “viking” sound of their early days, but their modern rock sound is still filled with a bold and uniquely magnetic character!
