Dan Daw Creative Projects not only offers accessible and relaxed performances but also leads innovative workshops on ‘Pre-show Access.’ In these sessions, they share their insights and research on making theater as accessible as possible for everyone.
What to expect:
- The social model of disability – Learn why Dan Daw embraces this model and how it opens up their creative work to more people.
- Relaxed performances – Discover what they are and how to communicate their benefits to your audience.
- Trigger menus – Why are they essential, and how can you create one for your own work?
- Sensory awareness – Get practical tips on making spaces and performances more comfortable for people with sensory needs.
- Collaboration with people with disabilities – Understand why the principle of "nothing about us without us" is key. - This workshop combines a lecture, hands-on activities, and a Q&A session. By the end, you’ll have practical strategies to make your own work more accessible.
Facilitator: Liz Counsell, Executive Director of Dan Daw Creative Projects, has over 10 years of experience as an accessibility consultant in disability arts across the UK.
