Benefit with an eye on Palestine

At the end of December, the Eye On Palestine platform and its partners invite you to a benefit of hope and solidarity. It is the closing night of the Ghent and multidisciplinary art festival Eye On Palestine (21.11 to 20.12.24 - View the full program).

The dire situation in Gaza, where civilians suffer daily from the conflict, demands action from all of us. Eye On Palestine combines this with artistic interventions, debates and lectures of all kinds. For this closing event, Ha Concerts, VIERNULVIER, Democrazy and Trefpunt, together with musician Imre De Cauter, join forces.

Proceeds will go to the Ghassan Abu Sittah Children's Fund and World Central Kitchen, which provide vital assistance to local Palestinian children and families. So come in large numbers and do your part.

Line-up

Presentation by word artist, teacher and theater maker Hind Eljadid

  • Lander & Adriaan - Drummer Lander Gyselinck (STUFF., BeraadGeslagen,...) and keyboardist Adriaan Van de Velde (Pomrad, J. Bernard,...) in a feverish night of dreams, fierce beats and walls of synths.
  • Ão - Indie, saudade and subtle electronica. Songs in Portuguese and English, backed by southern guitar, ambient sounds and eclectic percussion.
  • Sylvie Kreusch & Eefje de Visser solo -  Emotional fireworks from two alternative power pop queens. They perform a short set together.
  • Victor de Roo - Brussels-based DJ with an eclectic ambient set.
  • Bani Adam Quintet - Arabic folk with compelling songs led by Palestinian Alaa Shublaq.
  • Helena & Pablo Casella - Multi-talents Pablo (Esinam, Little Dots and DJ Grazzhoppa) and Helena (Sachee, Cultra Collective) Casella with hot-blooded Brazilian songs.
  • Dries Laheye - A dreamy universe of bassist and composer (STUFF., Hooray., Lucid Lucia), a solo with effect(s).
  • Joachim Badenhorst - Clarinetist with international allure and sense of adventure. From jazz and improv to pop, R&B and everything in between.
  • NEON SHADOW dj-set - Dj duo of One Track Brain and OGENN - also known as the front of cult electro band The Subs - in a mix of techno and immersive electro-psytrance.

"I am very upset about what is happening in Gaza. I watch in amazement as Israel has been committing one war crime after another every day for over a year now, while the world looks on (or looks away) and does nothing. The horror is live-streamed, I hardly dare open my Instagram. My father is South African, I visited South Africa as a child during apartheid, the inequality I saw then was traumatic. As for South Africa, I think there should be serious boycotts against Israel's apartheid regime. My partner Bei and I have already organized several benefit events for Gaza in Antwerp. Benefits like this are important, both to raise money and to come together and share our anger and grief." Joachim Badenhorst
